NiTi, steel or beta-titanium, round or rectangular, slim or bigger, classic or white – FORESTADENT archwires have been convincing for many decades due to their outstanding quality and unique properties.
DuoForce® offers orthodontists an archwire which, thanks to its exceptional properties, offers a three-dimension control from the start. The division of the archwire into two different force zones with a seamless transition makes this possible. Lower forces are exerted on the anterior teeth, and stronger forces are generated in the posterior/molar area. Therefore, DuoForce® can already be used as an initial archwire, in order to achieve an alignment of the anterior teeth with simultaneous torque control.
FORESTADENT’s Titanol® Triple Force offers a total of three force segments in an archwire. Very light forces work on the anterior region, medium forces on the canines and premolars, and stronger forces on the molars. This allows for a biological positive amount of force on the teeth to be aligned. The Titanol® Triple Force archwires offer an excellent surface structure with very low friction values.
Compared to Titanol® Superelastic, Titanol® Low Force, which is also super-elastic, offers a 30% lower restoring force. It works with consistent, gentle forces which are easy on the tissue during teeth movements, and the remodelling processes of the periodontium are facilitated and accelerated. Unwanted side-effects as for example root resorption can be avoided from the start. Titanol® Low Force offers an excellent surface structure with very low friction values.
In contrast to conventional treatment archwires (e.g. stainless steel), Titanol® Superelastic is extremely flexible. This ensures that the super-elastic archwire returns to its original shape just like a spring (shape memory effect), no matter how far it is deflected in treatment. Thanks to the high internal tension of Titanol® Superelastic, the force can act on a relatively constant level which allows for gentle movements which are easy on the teeth and the periodontium during the bone remodelling.
FORESTADENT BioLingual® archwires are specially designed for lingual treatments. The round archwires are made from nickel-titanium and thanks to their thermo-activity develop their full force level only at body temperature. This also makes ligating the archwires an easy task. BioLingual® archwires are very elastic and only transfer low forces to the teeth that need to be moved.
BioCosmetic archwires are the first tooth-coloured archwires that remain constantly white and therefore enable long-term inconspicuous treatment. They also provide maximum intra-oral comfort for the patient, as the white coating covers super-elastic NiTi archwires. These archwires ensure gentle forces and quick treatment due to their extremely low force level.
Titanol® Cosmetic archwires not only allow for gentle tooth movements, they also provide a perfect aesthetic look. The super-elastic archwire material makes this possible, which ensures the forces act on a relatively constant level. This protects both teeth and the periodontium. Also, the tooth-coloured coating of Titanol® Cosmetic ensures an appealing, aesthetic look from the start to the end of the treatment.
The extensive range of McLaughlin Bennett 5.0 archwires allows orthodontists to perfectly overcome almost any treatment task. What makes this possible is the archwires’ excellent properties, which ensure the best possible implementation of the McLaughlin Bennett 5.0 treatment concept in every stage of treatment.
Three new archwires for bracket treatment are now available through FORESTADENT. Working in cooperation with Prof Dr Ravindra Nanda (of Connecticut, USA, and an established expert in the field of biomechanics and in orthopaedic forces research), the Pforzheim-based company has successfully developed innovative wires that enable even more effective tooth movements.
The unique properties of these innovative rectangular wires reflect the latest findings in materials research and development.
The PhysioDynamicSystem (PDS) developed by Dr Ronald M Roncone focuses on six steps, which, when implemented accordingly, mean the PDS treatment concept has more than just an excellent functional and aesthetic outcome. What’s more, the duration of multi-band treatment is significantly reduced. One of these elementary steps is the use of the PDS Prescription. An extensive range of archwires is used in addition to interactive bracket systems (BioQuick® and QuicKlear® III).
Whether at the beginning of treatment or later – FORESTADENT’s Biostarter® and BioTorque® archwires are perfect in any situation. BioStarter® is ideal for the perfect start of orthodontic treatment. Thanks to its very low force level, misalignments can be corrected gently and without risk even in difficult situations, for example periodontal damage. BioTorque® allows for quick and effective torquing of the teeth.
The retraction and torque archwire (according to Prof. Dr. Franz Günter Sander) is used for the physical retraction of the anterior teeth and for the fine-tuning of the torque in the anterior teeth area. A pre-torqued super-elastic rectangular wire for the anterior segment is crimp-connected to a rectangular steel wire in the posterior area. The ends of the stainless steel segments act as retraction arms at the same time. These retraction arms are shaped, according to clinical requirements, to form tiny individual hooks to which super-elastic springs are attached. This subjects the dental arch to constant forces resulting in a retraction of approx 1.5 mm per month.
With the Memory Titanol® spring (according to Prof. Dr. Franz Günter Sander) for uprighting of molars, a super-elastic Titanol® wire is connected to a steel wire via a cimpable stop. With this material combination the pseudo elastic areas of the spring can be used optimally, and consistent moments and biologically favourable forces can act on the molars.
